Superlatives

We use superlatives when we want to compare one thing in a group with all the other things in the group.

Read and find superlatives.

Do you know that….

-         the Nile is the longest river in the world.

-         Australia is the biggest Island in the world.

-         the Atacama Desert in Chile is the driest place in the world.

-         Mexico City is the most crowded city in the world.

-         China has the biggest population.

-         Australia is the smallest continent and the six largest country  in area.

-         the Aral Sea is the most ancient sea that has more than 3500 years history.

-         Los Vegas is the hotel capital of the world. It has more than 14 of the biggest hotels in the world and more than 125.000 hotel rooms.

-         Achilles fought at the Trojan War. He had the most magnificent armour to protect him, but he was nevertheless killed when an arrow pierced his heel – the only vulnerable part of his body.

-         The Silk Road has the most ancient history; the Silk Road carried not only goods, but ideas between East and West. China received Buddhism from India and Christianity from Europe.

Read and put in order

1. Heggy's mother told them, "Don't take a stick and a stone, but smile at the hedgehogs in the water." Heggy and Chamby went back to the river, looked at the hedgehogs and smiled at them.
2. Last Sunday Heggy and Chamby wanted to go to the Blue Forest. The Blue Forest was across* the river. Chamby told Heggy, "There's someone in the river. I'm afraid of him."
3. They saw that the hedgehogs in the water smiled at them too! Heggy and Chamby were happy.
4. One hedgehog was holding a big stone and another hedgehog was holding a longstick*. Heggy and Chamby ran to Heggy's mother for help.
5. Heggy took a long stick and Chamby took a big stone. In the water they saw two hedgehogs.

Answers:
